<<< Final Year Exams coming, revision classes (NOT only Sundays) are coming soon.

All my students should have received the form and details during tuition or potential parents pls check out the following (You can attend the revision classes even if you are not our regular students) We understand that many student have their own current tutors for regular lessons.

For old and current students, you all should know what revision classes are about. (Template used every year. You can skip the introduction and explanations, pay attention to location and dates and timing available)

For new students who just joined us, please note that:

Normally near to each exam period (CA1, mid year, CA2, prelims, PSLE, final year exam, N Level, O level, etc), I will schedule EXTRA lessons on Sundays (Original lessons schedule on other days are as usual, no changes to regular classes, unless otherwise stated and informed).

These Sunday classes are optional, because they are payable, but suitable for students who want to add on lessons to prepare more for exam (longer sessions so that more things can be done, or things that normally cant do much during regular lesson coz too time consuming, can be conducted during the revision classes).

Basically the Sunday revision classes work on the following basis: Questions force the brain to think and analyse, and is one of the most effective ways to learning, and excel during exams.

Lessons are standardized from 9am to 2pm (lunch inclusive), parents can fetch them home around 215~230pm. (Students can attend none, a few or all sessions) (Tutors: Me and many other revision tutors)

Main benefits are as follows:
- students will be exposed to more typical exam questions
- re-revised on main weaknesses
- Coz of the fact of ‘suffering’ the LONG revision classes, student will feel that exam time is not that Long after all, somehow concentration level will be improved.
- Regular long revision classes exposed students to all sorts of questions, and they can see the trends of what questions keep appearing in all sorts of papers, and which questions are rare, they may after all view the actual exam papers as normal revision worksheets, confidence level = up.
- That’s it. Quite diverse views from different students. I believe there are students who feel that they don’t benefit from revision classes, some do, and that’s the reason why the existence and continuality of the revision classes since it started last 2+ years.
- One thing to emphasize to new students and old one who had only tried revision classes for 1, 2 or 3 times only, you had to get used to it and consistent! So =3 times you cant see much, and please note the following scenario:
- If there are 10 sessions for revision classes, some students choose to come on 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th and 10th – total 5 sessions. Nothing wrong with 5 sessions, but unless is really necessary or other appointments, don’t alternate, continuous effect is better. If you are coming only for 5, I rather you come for 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th, basically the last few since they are nearer to the exams.

Some common questions asked for last Revision Classes:
I put the answers in Q and A style for easier reading: Q1: How many students going for revision classes?

A: I will never know the answer for this question till everyone passes me back the form. Please note that you do not need to worry about the number of students, coz I will be getting more revision tutors’ help if there are more students, ie, I will always keep tutor-student ratio to maximum 5:1. For some cases, I may even arrange for individual attention for very weak students. To add on, I will be around throughout the whole session.

Q2: Can the student bring his/her own questions to ask?
A: Though there are work scheduled to be done on each Sunday, students are welcomed to bring questions, the purpose of revision classes is the clear doubts and input more information for everyone. The question asked may be a good and potential question for another student. Only exceptional case I can think off hand is: The questions are like “A LOT” and “too uncommon” – so no point wasting too much time doing “too rare” questions, the same amount of time should be spent on those which are more common and useful for the exam.

Q3: I totally can’t make it on Sundays (Most common reasons are: have other tuitions scheduled on Sundays already or have church service), how? I want to attend, got alternatives?
A: Though I prefer everyone to come as scheduled, ie on the Sundays, but in case you have the above “troubles”, feel free to let me know (tick in the option for Saturday class in the reply form). Saturdays classes - Location will be the same, timing will be: 930am – 3pm, lunch inclusive. Note: In case you are coming from Serangoon on Saturdays, no free transport service available on Saturdays.

Q4: Since Saturdays are possible, can I attend both Saturdays and Sundays’ classes?
A: Of course you can. That is why I need the form soon so I can plan out what the students can do/prepare given the number of sessions they are attending. There wont be overlap, unless is necessary repetitions.

Q5: For either Saturdays or Sundays, if I can only make it for like around 11 am to 2 pm, which is shorter than the 5 or 5.5hours classes, can I pay lesser?
A: Nope, revision classes’ fees go by PER session. All students pay the same amount be it attending partial or full session.

Q6b: When do I need to make payment?
A: When you pass back the form, please attached payment (cash/cheque) for all the sessions you had signed up.

Q7: I am only having Maths tuition in Serangoon/Hougang, but I am also weak in my Science, can I have science revision too? Do I need to pay extra?
A: Purpose of revision classes is to help students with revision for their exams. I need to emphasize that I don’t mind if you want help in other non-tuition subjects, but provided the “tuition subject(s)” is well taken care of first. There is no need to pay extra.

Q8: What subjects can the tutors help out during the revision classes if the tutors think that I can do more than my “usual tuition subjects”?
A: Levels/Subjects possible: Primary 1-6: English, Maths, Science, Chinese, Maths Heuristics, Creative writing, Chinese compositions. Secondary 1-2: English, maths, science, Chinese. Secondary 3-5/Private candidates: English, A/E Maths, POA, Chem, physics. JC: H2 Maths, GP, Econs.

Q9: I don’t know when the exam dates are yet so cannot make a decision now, if not wait I paid and the exam is over for the sessions I had registered for, how?
A: Here are the guidelines: And please note that: In case you really paid till, for example, 24th October 2010, but your exam ends on 22nd October, you do not need to attend the 24th October lesson and that lesson’s fee will be refunded.

All students’ upcoming exams are scheduled on:

- Primary SA2 exams (19th October2010)(Tentatively)

Can use the above as a guideline to inform me soon, I need to plan and prepare work and “book” the bus and the revision tutors too.

Q13: I’m keen to go, but we are staying nearer to the centre in Serangoon, going Hougang is inconvenient for us, how?
A: Some of the Serangoon students had been to Hougang for tuition before, hence the location should be very familiar to you.
For those who are keen to go for the revision classes, but yet have problem with traveling to Hougang, do let me know early, I will try to arrange free transport from Serangoon Key Learning Centre to Hougang and fro. Please indicate in the form.

<<< Ms Cat Wu’s 6th October 2010, Wednesday class cancelled.

7th October 2010 Thursday – It is PSLE Maths Day!! I need 6th October 2010 to arrange a special revision/crash class for the Primary 6 students to prepare them for their exam. (So my Sec3 & Sec4 students, give them this important day/slot okay?) For the Primary 6 students, most probably the Maths crash class will be scheduled at 230-730pm, with break in between. After the crash course, go home and rest!! And get ready for the next day’s papers. P/s for primary 6 students who wants to go for Chinese crash on 7th October 2010 Thursday for your Friday’s Chinese paper, most probable the Chinese crash class is from 230-7pm, with break in between.

<<< Crash Course for O Level 2010

Please note there is a possibility (NOT confirmed) of having crash course for English Language before the paper (Of coz not by me, is by Mr Tai) and Maths crash for O level on 25th, 26th, 27th and 28th October for the next day’s Maths papers.
